In recent years the trend has been toward supersizing the cocktail, and the effects aren’t pretty. Like supersizing fast food, more isn’t always better and bigger is closer to having an alcohol IV shot up your arm. It’s neither classy or healthy. It completely sidesteps swank sophistication. If the less is more idea of cocktails isn’t your thing, then you might want to consider a keg and a pitcher ala National Lampoon. Ouch.
Last night at a little party here at Rancho Maven, my doc wandered in and I proferred wine, beer or champagne. He looked at me like I was daft. He wanted a gin martini. When I handed one to him a few minutes later, he sighed with satisfaction at the sight of the vintage glass. ” Finally, somebody who doesn’t need to serve a cocktail in a tanker”.
“Why don’t you get out of that wet coat and into a dry martini?”
